Autumn 2013
sees me kick off an exciting new venture in collaboration with Cyclocross
Magazine, my existing sponsors and some new partners.
I have
registered a new team with British Cycling under the team name cxmagazine.com
aided by the generous sponsorship of Cyclocross Magazine. With a personal remit
from the magazine’s owner to build a small, development team for young cyclocross
riders I have an initial roster of three riders, myself as rider/coordinator,
Ted Sarmiento as rider/coach and a Sarah Murray, a promising U23 female rider.
The team is keen to engage with young and enthusiastic riders who see cyclocross
as their first discipline.
The team
will provide a source of content for what is the only printed cyclocross
magazine in English through race reports and social media.
Belgium is very much seen as the home of
cyclocross, and it probably is. However, what is often missed is that there are
more participants in the sport in the USA than there are in the rest of the
world! Cyclocross Magazine has a strong US perspective but shows a particularly
keen interest in the UK scene with regular features on UK riders.
The team will
represent Cyclocross Magazine for all BC sanctioned events and ride in a
distinctive orange/black colourway. The team members will also have access to
discount codes for print and online subscriptions to the magazine.
There is
also an intention to act as a test bed for some cx niche products, particularly
those from across the Atlantic.
For myself,
my existing sponsors, Boneshakers Cycles will continue to support me for road events
however expect to see me in black and orange once the Dugasts hit the mud.
