How hard can it be?

It's a simple scenario. I am driving my car doing 40mph and come up behind a cyclist doing about 25mph. The cyclist is just cresting a rise and is beginning to descend a 1in10 hill with several bends, most of which are blind. What do I do? Do I hold back in anticipation of the cyclist speeding up......or do I go for an overtake on a blind bend in my Fiat pile of poo and hope that nothing's coming the other way.

This is the challenging decision that the nerds who work in the offices at Cardale Park struggle with every Tuesday and Thursday morning.

Anyway, the rant is over and I'm over it now.

The main project on the equipment front for 2011 is to go into the cx season with both bikes broadly equal in set up. In particular, I want the option of good wheels with deep rims for both muddy and fast conditions. In practice, this means another pair of Hope Hoops for the blue bike with another pair of Dugast Rhino's. The Mavic Reflex's on Dura Ace with Rhino's will be trickled down to spares.

I have no plans to ride the Three Peaks again.....been there and done it and to be honest, it's boring now compared to competitive cross.

To bring some variety to the season, I plan to solo the Wiggle Enduro 6 in the Elite race with a view to doing the BC National XCM Championships in September. Two high profile MTB races will give just that bit of interest and break the potential for boredom of TT'ing. I also suspect that given the longer event, my natural endurance might balance my technical shortcomings on the tricky stuff. We'll see.

Having looked at the CTT book, I think 2011 is going to be very much focused on riding races that I can have an inpact on. In short, sticking to what I'm good at. Without going into silly detail, strong rides in the two 30m TT's might well be my focus along with some wins on some shorter courses (but not telling anyone which events).

I'm increasingly thinking about the BBAR again.......but perhaps not this year.
