So today dawned, well it didn't really. It never got properly light, but with the mercury reaching 4deg C if felt much more comfortable on the bike. Today, Wednesday isn't a training day so just because I'm on annual leave, it doesn't become a training day. It never ceases to amaze me how seemingly intelligent people allow their training volume to go through the roof, just because they happen to take leave for Christmas. The Majorca frequenters can be the worst, by doing buggar all all winter with no rhythm or regime to their pre season and then BANG!!!!! two weeks 1200miles, and they sit there on the plane home wondering why they've got a sore throat.
Heather's not done much recently and decided to start getting into shape for the better weather so the best use of time was to keep off the gas and just go for a potter with her. Despite 'not training' I used the hour and a half to good effect practicing smooth pedaling in low gears with a few sudden accelerations to possibly teach myself to change pace......never enough to raise my heart rate, just perhaps 4-5 second long jumps. It never ceases to amaze me just how talented she is on a bike. I just so wish she could keep off the brakes when the road goes down.
Tomorrow might well be the day for a good session with the warmer weather everything works a little better.
