After an Ok start, I just thought it was going to be the usual case of getting into a rhythmn and hanging on.....but wow, what a race. Two good crashes, one heavy enough to break my helmet in half and a full on race long battle with Matt and Ian saw me burst into the top ten for only the second time in five cross seasons.
After the race settled down, I managed to make superb use on my low cadence power to tame the slipery conditions at Thornes Park. Just purring around smoothly in a big gear really worked well for me. The bike and tyres worked a treat and fortunately the helmet was the only equipment casualty of the day.
Some of the most intense racing I've done in a long time,
Fab!
