Back to the future, 1997-2012
Now nicely 10 weeks into my preparations for 2012. As it stands, now 7 rounds into The Yorkshire Points CX Series and riding pretty well.....but more importantly the base training's going well. Really well. I'm excited about 2012 on the road as after 15 years, I've finally regained my 1997 weight. Consistently sub 12st, some three quarters of a stone less than at August this year. Yes, I'll be a touch less powerful, but I'll be more aerodynamic and will probably get a better balance between being able to rip up the drags & climbs and ride the wind, important for what I've got in mind. The main focus for me now is to keep muscle mass and stay healthy in the cold, as I'm shivering like a good one at the moment.
The CX is really helping me get through the winter with some much needed attitude and I have returned to the mega training routes that served me so well in 2009.
2012 is going to see me returning to power based training & racing. Fortunately I have my SRM data from 2003 until 2009 so it'll be interesting to see the scores on the doors when the equipment is back on the bike in Spring.
We've had a big shake up at Boneshakersbikes.com race team with some really good lads now moving on. The deal is still good for me and I have a good feeling of commitments towards the teams owner.
I'm super motivated at the moment, for some really personal reasons that I'm not going into on here. Suffice to say I'm at war. Enough said.
